Prizes for Tartan Week entrants

As part of the recent Tartan Day Celebrations The Forfar and Area Partnership organised a competition for local primary schoolchildren.

Over the course of the Easter Holidays the children were challenged with finding and identifying small lengths of tartans in over 30 different shop windows located in and around the centre of Forfar.

The shopkeepers also entered into the spirit of the event by incorporating the lengths of tartans into their shop window displays.

In addition to thanking the local businesses which willingly took part the Area Partnership would also wish to thank Strathmore Woollen Company Limited for supplying the various tartan lengths, The Grampian Bookshop for sponsoring the prizes and Angus Council for supporting the event.

There was an excellent response to the competition, with a large number of correct entries returned and from this the following winners were drawn:-

1, Haydn Dear, aged ten, Langlands Primary, Forfar; 2, Lisa Rennie, aged nine, Whitehills Primary School; 3, Fraser Hood, aged seven, Langlands Primary School.

In view of the success of the event there is every opportunity it will be repeated again next year so look out for those entry forms on the run up to next Easter.
