As Forfar Athletic’s pre-season gets underway this weekend with a friendly against Turriff United there has been much going on in preparation.
Loons boss Dick Campbell has made a number of new signings in the close season including Mark Baxter, Gary Fusco, Paul McManus and Stuart Malcolm (see story on page 39).
At the time of going to press on Tuesday, Campbell was gearing up to sign the legendary veteran defender Marvin Andrews who spent part of last season at Albion Rovers.
And over the course of pre-season Campbell says he has another four or five trialists to look at.
Midfielder Keith Gibson has also returned to full training after a long recovery from injury.
Training started last week and while the boss admits summer is a nightmare time for managers due to player holidays he is pleased with the signings he has made so far.
Campbell added: “We start training at Kilgraston in Perth this week and will be there for a few months .
“It’s got excellent facilities.
“But I’ve got no issues at the moment and about 19 or 20 players in the squad so far.”
Meanwhile, the scheduled Boxing Day fixture at home to Ayr United has been brought forward to Saturday, December 21.
