Dundee Rep Ensemble presents ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams, a touching play regarded as Williams’ most powerful and haunting, next month.

Directed by Dundee Rep’s Artistic Director Jemima Levick this American classic is considered to be a semi-autobiographical work of genius.

Dundee Rep Ensemble members are cast in the roles of Amanda, Laura and Jim and are joined by visiting actor Robbie Jack to play would be poet Tom.

‘The Glass Menagerie’ is said to be based on Williams, his histrionic mother and his mentally fragile sister and is written from the point of view of narrator Tom.

Rep Ensemble member Irene Macdougall plays Amanda, an ambitious mother bringing up her son and daughter singlehandedly. A woman of action as well as words she puts her son Tom under increasing pressure to find a gentleman caller and a future for his sister Laura.

Dundee Rep Ensemble’s two new graduates Millie Turner (Laura) and Thomas Cotran (Tom) will perform with the company for the first time.
