SOUTHMUIR Primary School and nursery class in Kirriemuir have received a positive report from the HM Inspectorate of Education following a recent visit to the school.
In his report inspector Alan Urquhart highlights the key strengths of the school as being polite, well-behaved and enthusiastic children who enjoy their role in improving the school; the very welcoming and inclusive ethos; high-quality, stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences; partnership working with parents and the wider community and teamwork of staff, led by the effective leadership of the head-teacher.
Following the visit the inspectors discussed with staff and the education authority how they might continue to improve the school and nursery class and agreed they should ensure tasks, activities and the pace of learning meet the needs of all children consistently well and should continue to develop Curriculum for Excellence.
They concluded they were satisfied with the overall quality of provision and were confident the school’s self‑evaluation processes were leading to improvements. As a result, they will make no further visits in connection with the recent inspection. The local authority will inform parents about the school’s progress as part of the authority’s arrangements for reporting to parents on the quality of its schools.
