THE latest recipient of the Forfar Roof Truss Company Limited monthly £250 award is Letham and District Twinning Association.
The financial boost couldn’t have come at a better time for the association, with a group of ten from the village’s new twin town of Leguillac de l’Auch in the French Dordogne having arrived in the area for a week-long visit on Monday.
Members of Letham and District Twinning Association popped along to the Forfar Roof Truss Company Limited headquarters on Monday, to pick up the £250 cheque, which will go towards meeting some of the costs of hosting the French visitors.
Having arrived in the area on Monday, the French party enjoyed a tour and a picnic in Edinburgh before journeying up to Letham for the first night with their host families.
On Tuesday (yesterday) a visit was made to Discovery Point in Dundee, the visitors also taking in the McManus Museum, before enjoying a picnic at Broughty Castle, completing their outing with a look round the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station.
On Wednesday (today) a walking tour of Letham is planned, followed by a short journey through to Arbroath to enjoy a fish and chip lunch and visit the Signal Tower Museum.
A civic reception is to be held in the Canmore Room, Forfar on Wednesday evening, followed by a social evening.
On Thursday (tomorrow), the destination is scenic Glen Esk, for a walk along Loch Lee and a light lunch at The Retreat, followed by a soiree at Letham Bowling Club in the evening.
Friday will take the French visitors to Glamis Castle and, following another picnic, a tour of the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club premises in planned.
There will also be a visit to the Camera Obscura in Kirriemuir, with a final get-together in Letham in the evening, ahead of the return journey to France on the Saturday morning.
“The programme is quite comprehensive as this is the first official visit by our new twins,” commented Neil McLeod, vice-chairman of Letham and District Twinning Association.
