Police issue security advice

Tayside Police are advising householders and motorists in the area to be security conscious following a number of power tool thefts.

Householders should always lock all doors and windows and any sheds, garages and outbuildings when not at home. Even when they are at home, people should secure their property and, ideally, only open windows in rooms that they are in. At night, they should close and secure all windows and doors.

Advances in car security have made cars harder to break into and steal when properly secured, but this does not deter the opportunist thief who will not hesitate to smash and grab if they see anything of value inside a car.

Residents are also encouraged to be good neighbours and immediately report any suspicious activity in their area to Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222. If you see a crime in progress call 999.
