Police advice on safety at home

LOCAL householders have been advised to keep their property safe as the clocks change this Sunday.

Addressing this month’s meeting of Forfar Community Council, Constable Ally Smith of Tayside Police said the increasing hours of darkness provide opportunities for a potential thief.

The public should endeavour to make properties safe, set timers on internal lights and radios, fit or check external security lights are in working order, and lock all doors, windows and sheds.

Valuables should be securely marked with the relevant postcode and house number and the public should look out for their neighbours.
