Plumber flushed with success

Kirriemuir student David Elder saw his skills recognised on a national stage when he took part in the 39th SkillPlumb Competition.

The third year D & A College apprentice was one of 13 of the country’s top trainee plumbers who took part in the two-day event held in Falkirk, winning the third place in the Best Overall Apprentice category.

As well as gaining a certificate to make his achievement, the 19-year-old was presented with a £150 cheque, a Bosch drill, and a £25 voucher for PlumbCentre.

The former Webster’s High School pupil added this award to the SNIPEF Shield for best apprentice which he was awarded at last year’s college prize-giving.

David works for Murray Pennycook, Blairgowrie.

Ally Stewart, lecturer said: “The standard of the competition was incredibly high so we were pleased to see David win a place in the top three.”
