A joint project between a luxury home developer and a local firm could see 150 homes built in Broughty Ferry.

Kirkwood Homes and Linlathen Developments (Tayside) Ltd recently submitted plans to Dundee City Council.

Balgillo Heights will create a development offering a mix of three bedroom terraced and three, four and five bedroom detached homes at the development.

Kirkwood Homes will offer a wide variety of house types to potential buyers including, Cluny, Crathes and Inver.

As part of the development, luxury house builder Kirkwood, will introduce village green spaces throughout the site to build and enhance the distinct character and identity of the area.

Following approval of the plans, building work for the development will be phased, with the first homes expected to be offered for sale in early 2017.

Through the emerging Local Development Plan, Kirkwood Homes is also in discussion with Dundee City Council and the landowner in respect of long term opportunities for the area, which have the potential to address future education and community facilities requirements for the wider area.

Kirkwood Homes land director, Allan Rae said: “We are looking forward to, once again offering our luxury, high quality homes and address the current demand for housing in the area. In the past six years we have developed a wider range of house types to suit anyone from a first-time buyer to a growing family and this has been reflected in our plans for this community. We have also taken into account and reflected in our plans submitted for the site aspects such as traffic, education and community facilities.

“Broughty Ferry is a highly desirable location and over the last year we have worked closely with officers in Dundee City Council to ensure that our plans reflect their aspirations for the site in terms of design, layout and housing mix.”
