Photos at Kirrie Probus Club

THE SNOWY weather kept the attendance down at Kirriemuir Probus Club’s latest meeting and scheduled speaker was unable to attend.

Mike Visocchi stood in at short notice with a presentation of ‘History & Memories of Kirriemuir.’

Mike has a large collection of old photographs of Kirriemuir, some well over 100 years old.

He began his talk by explaining how old photos can be restored, improved and kept as digital files, and he showed a few examples of before and after. Mike then took his audience on a digital presentation tour of Kirriemuir through well over a century of changes to the streets, buildings & businesses in the town, with many of the images featuring local characters and old vehicles as well as grocers, bakers and butchers and old factories, schools, railway station and the quarry. All photos were of great interest to the members who were present.

A vote of thanks to Mike for an excellent presentation was proposed by Sandy Crowe.

The next meeting of Kirriemuir Probus Club is on Wednesday, April 3 when Robert Martin will talk on ‘The Watson Watt Society.’
