FOUR charitable locals recently completed the London Marathon and in so doing raised £9346.04 in aid of the pulmonary hypertension association (PHA) and in memory of their friend Laura Bell.
Tracey Scott said: “We were doing this to raise awareness of pulmonary hypertension as our dear friend Laura Bell sadly passed away from this condition in the summer of 2009.
“Our fundraiser held at the Reid Hall was a great success and we would like to thank local businesses for their donation of prizes for the event.
“We all completed the London marathon and enjoyed the electric atmosphere of it all.
“It will be an experience we’ll never forget, not just a physical achievement but an emotional one too.
“We are very proud to have raised £9346.04 for the PHA and cannot thank everyone enough.
“We never expected to raise this large amount and hope through doing so we’ve raised awareness of pulmonary hypertension and feel our dear friend Laura would be very proud of what we’ve achieved.”
Tracey added: “We would like to thank local businesses, friends and family for their overwhelming support and generosity in helping us fundraise for PHA.”
