With only seven weeks until Christmas, stressed out shoppers looking for unique gifts should hot foot it along to Mountains Animal Sanctuary as it is hosting a series of Christmas shopping events.

This weekend (November 12 and 13) and the following (November 19 and 20) from 10 am until 4.30 pm, locals can get the majority of their shopping done under one roof as a selection of gifts for all the family - ranging from hampers, festive food, jewellery, bronzes, toys and manuka honey products - all available at 10 per cent off.

But for those who prefer the buzz of late night shopping, they should head along on Thursday (tomorrow) and Thursday, November 17 from 5 pm until 9 pm.

And to keep festive spirits up, free mince pies and mulled wine will be offer throughout the Christmas shopping events, while Santa will be visiting on Sunday, November 13 and the following weekend (November 19 and 20) at 2 pm.

Pam Taylor, general manager at Mountains Animal Sanctuary, said: “With people being more cash conscious when it comes to buying Christmas presents, offering 10 per cent discount means they can shop smarter and be hit a little less in the harder in the pocket.

“Also, the gifts we are selling are truly unique and not something you would ordinarily get on the high street.”

As part of Mountains Animal Sanctuary’s Christmas Nativity scene, the charity is urging local residents or businesses to donate a 12-foot outdoor Christmas tree for Santa to leave all his gifts for the sanctuary’s 140 horses, donkeys and ponies to enjoy.
