On March 31 Forfar Library will be the launch venue for ‘Take Control’, an exciting new project providing books specifically for cancer patients and their families. All Angus libraries and the mobile vans will have a collection of books covering types of cancers and treatments, nutrition, wellbeing and survivor’s stories. These books are a valuable addition to our stock.

Also on March 31 at a drop-in session from 5 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. staff will demonstrate how to use the library catalogue and help customers register for Library Elf - the best way to ensure you are never caught out with late fees again! Later in the week will be your chance to learn how to safely shop online. Further information from library staff.


Spring Online: On the evening of Monday, March 31, the library will join a national event to get more people using computers. Staff will show how to access the online library pages such as the catalogue as well as the Library Elf service which allows you to get reminders of when your books are due. If you can’t manage along then ask about arranging another time to suit.

Sow into Spring: A free talk by Terrill Dobson about the herbalists’ garden within the walled garden at Logie’s organic farm and their open days under the Scotland’s Gardens Scheme. It’s from 6 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 14.

All Angus libraries are hosting gardening-based talks from local experts and also have a great selection of books on the subject.

Tartan Week (April 3 - 15): Adults can test their knowledge with a Scottish quiz while children can Hunt Hector the Haggis to find where he has been sighted There’s a prize for both competitions.

Friday, April 18: Children can design their own haggis and decide where he would go on his travels.

Book sale: There’s a book sale on until Wednesday, April 9. So why not look for a bargain?

Rocket Through Reading – Primary children are still reading their six books for this promotion with over 200 still enjoying the challenge.
