Forfar and District Garden Club is starting the new season with Billy Carruthers of Binny Plants as guest speaker.
Billy is a real character and he’ll be revealing the secrets of growing paeonies successfully in his own, charming style. He has more than 300 paeonies in his collection and loads of gold medals from the Royal Horticultural Society. He holds the national collection of paeonies and has been on several plant hunting expeditions all over the world.
The informal talk will be in the Plough Inn in Market Street, Forfar on Monday, September 26 at 7.30.
As well as the talk, Billy is bringing plants for sale which are not available anywhere else, and there is tea, biscuits, and garden chat afterwards.
The garden club is open to everyone, with new gardeners very welcome. It’s only £5 to join for a year, and £2 a meeting for members and £4 for non members.
This is the club’s third season which consists of seven meetings before members head outdoors for garden visits.
