ABBEY Care Services, the well-established care provider in the Kirriemuir area, has expanded with the purchase of the former Rowan House residential care home on the outskirts of town.

Some years ago this well-known and much respected residential care home changed hands; then two years ago it closed its doors for the last time.

Jill Faloon, registered manager and owner of Abbey Care Services told the Dispatch and Herald: “I thought it was terribly sad and a great loss to the elderly and infirm population of Kirriemuir and the surrounding area who, when they found themselves in need of a little respite or full-time care, found it necessary to sometimes look further afield to meet their care needs.

“I am already a well-established care provider in the area. Abbey Care Services has been providing care in the community for six years now, and to take over this beautiful building has long since been a dream of mine.

“One year ago, after much thought and deliberation, I decided to go for it and I am very proud to be able to tell you that, after a long hard year of negotiation with the previous owner and the Care Inspectorate, we have re-opened this stunning residential home.

“As with all new ventures we wanted to make it our own so we renamed the home Abbey House.

“So the home is where it always was; it has a new owner and a new name and a whole new outlook providing the very best care possible.

“We are now in our fourth week of trade and have already taken our first service users.

“They are enjoying a high standard of person centre care, provided by a team of dedicated care staff under the guiding hand of the home manager Annette Paterson.”
