Two Kirriemuir groups interested in the historical, cultural, architectural and social heritage of the town and its surrounding areas have decided to merge, as they have the same aims.

At the recent annual general meeting of the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust Chairman, Roland Proctor, announced that the Friends of Kirriemuir Gateway to the Glens Museum would merge with the group.

Since the Heritage Trust has recently become a Company Limited by Guarantee, it was decided to keep that name for the time being.

The following directors were elected: David Orr (chairman), Michael Visocchi (vice-chairman), Heidi Findlay (secretary), Duncan Henderson (treasurer), Sandra Affleck, Charlotte Brown, Alastair Cochrane-Dyet, Muriel Farquharson, Frances Havenga, Bob Inglis, John McIntosh, Roland Proctor, Rob Sargent and David Wilkie.

Plans are being made for future projects and monthly members’ meetings will begin on the first Wednesday in September.

News will be posted on the website (KIrriemuir Heritage Trust) which already has items of interest to view and members will be advised of activities shortly.

Existing and new members of both groups can download a membership application form from the website or contact the secretary at or through the Access Office, 5 Bank Street, Kirriemuir, DD8 4BE.

More information on this development will be sent to members.
