This Sunday (July 21), foodies from across Angus will be making their way to Memus for the first ever ‘Taste Angus’ event.
Taste Angus, a free event, is being held at the Drovers Inn, Memus, in association with A Taste of Angus.
It is also being supported by a host of local businesses who are passionate about the excellent fresh, seasonal produce available throughout the county of Angus.
Taste Angus runs from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 and will include a range of activities highlighting the wonderful flavours of fresh, seasonal Angus produce.
In the Taste Angus Food Theatre, there will be demonstrations by top local chefs from Angus Farmers’ Market, the Drovers Inn and the Links Hotel in Montrose, with chances for members of the audience to sample the dishes devised.
In addition, the Food Theatre will host a demonstration on how to make ‘a Braw Bowl O’ Porridge’ and there will a butchery demonstration by local butchers D&A Kennedy, with Eden Sinclair, Head Chef of the Drovers, using the butcher’s beef for his cooking demo.
Lucy McLay, one of the Taste Angus organisers, said: “One of the highlights of the day will undoubtedly be at 4.30 p.m., when three chefs will battle it out in the Chefs’ Cook Off.”
The “Cook Off” will be between The Drovers’ own Sam Chalmers, current Angus Young Chef of the Year, Franc Rivault of the Links Hotel and Angus Farmers’ Market’s award-winning chef Mathew de Franco.
