The new session of Kirriemuir Probus Club began with outgoing chairman, Alastair Morrice, passing on the chain of office to Howard Rippiner.

Matthew Jarron gave an illustrated talk about Patrick Geddes - biologist, sociologist, geographer, philanthropist and pioneering town planner. Of particular interest was his period as Professor of Botany at University College Dundee, 1889 to 1914. Matthew showed photographs of the college in its early years, with documents detailing Geddes’s involvement in its development. Also shown were some rough sketches and suggestions for improving parks and open spaces in Dundee, not all of which came to fruition. Bob Stewart gave a vote of thanks.

The next meeting is on September 2, When Kyle Hamilton and Louise Kerr will talk on Creative Photography.
