A man has been charged and is to appear in court today in connection with assaulting a young woman while attempting to rob her in Montrose.
Police Scotland have confirmed that a 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with assaulting and intending to rob a woman, who was using automated teller cash machine, on Montrose High Street on Wednesday, October 14.
He is also being charged with the theft of a charity bucket from the Greggs bakery on the High Street.
Although no items were stolen, the 23-year-old woman using the cash machine suffered slight injuries to her hip and leg as a result of the incident.
The man is expected to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court today (Friday, October 16) and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
