A 51-YEAR-OLD hillwalker felt the first wrath of the winter over the weekend after becoming trapped up Glen Doll in Angus.
In the early hours of Saturday, rescuers traced a man whose 999 call resulted in an almost nine-hour search in Glen Doll in terrible blizzard conditions.
At the height of the operation around 20 police and civilians braved the whiteout conditions and winds of up to 80 miles per hour.
Despite the difficulties imposed by the weather, the search was successful and the man was found safe and well before being airlifted to Ninewells Hospital by an RAF helicopter.
The man, who has not been named, is thought to be from England and was later released from hospital.
