AN NHS funded health programme, Winning Weigh, is set to start at Eassie Hall, next Wednseday, February 13.
The aim of the health programme is to help people lose the festive flab and be slimmer and happier in order to enjoy the summer sunshine.
Winning Weigh lasts for a period of 12 weeks and the meetings will assess each person as an individual, provide an individual eating plan and also give tips and advice on weight loss.
The NHS staff at the meetings will cover a selection of different diet topics over the course of 12 weeks.
Anyone who has a body mass index of 25 or more is invited to come along and participants can find out about food groups, diet myths and other related diet topics which will be covered each week.
The group helps people to change their lifestyles and to improve their health and to try and keep the weight off.
It not only looks at healthy eating but at physical activity and the benefits lifestyle changes have on their health in general.
The groups are run by trained staff and offer and interesting look at eating habits.
The classes will run from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the community cafe in Eassie Hall at Balkeerie, with one to one discussion sessions as well as a weigh in which will take place in the privacy of the community room.
Those who join in are kindly asked to donate a suggested amount of £3 which will go towards offsetting hall expenses.
Quite a few men and women have already signed up so why not try to lose a few pounds, take some weight off of those long suffering feet and creaking joints!

By attending a Winning Weigh group it is hoped that you will understand the benefits of modest weight loss and weight loss maintenance, be aware of how self-monitoring and goal setting can help achieve results, understand the basic principles of healthy eating, recognise the importance of increasing physical activity, be able to make informed choices by understanding food labels, be able to identify unhelpful eating behaviours and develop coping strategies and most importantly - having a great time.
