The popular Scottish Snowdrop Festival is now under way with Angus venues boasting stunning displays of the spring bloom..

The outdoor festival, which runs until March 15, offers visitors the chance to see spring snowdrops carpeting the grounds of gardens across Angus and Dundee.

For the first time Kinblethmont House near Arbroath has joined Pitmuies Gardens by Forfar, Gagie House at Duntrune, Dunninald Gardens near Montrose and House of Dun by Montrose on the local trail.

Nationally, 60 properties will offer beautiful displays of snowdrops in stunning natural settings, some opened exclusively for the event. The collections are set among outdoor sculptures, ancient trees and abbeys, spectacular waterfalls and woodland walks.

Jim Clarkson, from VisitScotland, said: “The Scottish Snowdrop Festival is great to kick off the new year, inspiring visitors to come and experience the breathtaking beauty of the region outwith the busier holiday season. With over 60 properties taking part, the Festival has grown tremendously over the years and offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy one of the natural highlights of the spring calendar.”
