The BEATING heart of the Tealing community is going strong so when residents were asked to nominate their local heroes, there was no shortage of suggestions.
At a presentation in Tealing Hall, Margaret Thomson collected the Tealing Local Hero Award 2011. Margaret has been teaching highland dancing in the hall for over 45 years as well as running dog obedience training and line dancing classes.
Her patience, enthusiasm and warmth have been appreciated by several generations of local families and many of her pupils have gone on to become dancing teachers themselves.
Also picking up commendations at the event were Bessie Coventry and Ella Hutchison for many long years of keeping the village hall open in all weathers for the benefit of the community and for contributing so much to several other local groups.
Community Council Chairman, Graeme Reoch, presented the certificates. He said: “Our award winners are fine examples of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep village life going.”
