Youngsters honoured for their achievements
A picture of some of the peer education group who attended the celebration lunch to receive their Dynamic Youth and Youth achievement awards. The young people were part of a smoking peer education project run by Forfar Community Learning Development, the young people had to take part in training then put together their own workshops which they then delivered to S1 classes. The group worked on their dynamic youth and youth achievement awards while taking part in the project. They were presented with their awards at a celebration lunch at Forfar Academy community wing.
THE PEER education group attended a celebratory lunch to receive their Dynamic Youth and Youth Achievement awards.
Dynamic Youth Awards are peer assessed awards recognising the contributions and achievements of young people in the community.
The awards are easy to use and can be incorporated into existing youth work and school programmes.
Young people are encouraged to self assess and then peer assess each other’s achievements and they can use the awards as an access route to the Youth Achievement Awards.
Firstly, the young people assess and award certificates as part of an Award Group and then they are externally accredited by the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network.
Next they are credit rated on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 3 by the SQA.
The awards complement existing quality youth work practice providing a framework, not a programme and they encourage and support youth participation and the process encourages young people to take increasing responsibility for their own future
The young people from Forfar took part in a smoking peer education project which was run by the Forfar Community Learning Development.
During the smoking peer education project, the participants had to take part in a training programme and then put together their own workshops which they then delivered to pupils in S1.
The peer education group continued to work on their Dynamic Youth and Youth Achievement awards while taking part in the project.
Members of the group were presented with their awards at a celebration lunch held at the community wing in Forfar Academy.
