FORFAR schoolgirl Sophie-Ann Robson made a welcome return to Forfar Community Council on Thursday evening to hand over 47 posters in a campaign to rid the town of dogs’ mess.

The eight-year-old hand delivered the posters created by pupils at the school, after she took it upon herself to highlight the on-going problem of continuous dogs’ mess littering the pavements and streets leading to and from the school.

Sophie-Ann addressed the previous month’s meeting to outline her concerns about the problem, and suggested pupils in Forfar designed posters which could be distributed throughout the town to get the message through to irresponsible dogs owners to pick up after their pets.

Presenting a special file full of posters on Thursday, she told the meeting: “The problem is better but it’s still not good.”

Praising Sophie-Ann and her fellow pupils for their efforts, Community Council Chairman Mrs Isobel Ross said: “We have decided, as a community council, to appoint a panel of judges to look over the posters and decide on the winners. Sophie-Ann has done so well - this has been an excellent response from one wee girl’s letter to the Forfar Dispatch.”

The posters will be judged on Wednesday, March 6, and it is hoped local businesses will display them in their shops.
