Second vintage railway show to take place in Kirriemuir

KIRRIEMUIR is to host its second annual vintage railway get together and it has had a very positive response from the various vintage train societies in Scotland.

Organiser Dale Smith is a long term member of several of those clubs and societies and has encouraged other members from around Scotland to come and participate in the event.

Under the banner of Kirriemuir Vintage Railways some of the very best of Scottish and British toy and model train production will be on show on Saturday, April 9 in the Guide Hall.

The main scales on display will be O gauge and OO gauge with the latter represented by four different Hornby Dublo layouts each outlining the main developments in the marques, from the late 1930s up to the late 1950s.

Some of the O gauge layouts include pre-war Hornby Series, mid 1920s Bowman live steam and a mix and match layout incorporating both pre and post war Hornby, Bassett-Lowke, Leeds Model Company, Highfield Models and contemporary ACE Trains.

Included in Dale’s LNER O gauge offering will be part of his 2013 exhibition layout and a good selection of 1930s-1950s Bayko buildings and examples from many ranges of diecast vehicles and figures.

The most wide ranging display will show the exclusively Scottish production of Bar Knight, from O-gauge up to Gauge 3. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and for further information contact Dale Smith any evening on 01575 574128.
