The latest Forfar Roof Truss Sponsorship cheque, run in conjunction with the Forfar Dispatch and Kirriemuir Herald, has come at the perfect time for members of the North Angus District Scout Section.

Scouts from Letham, Forfar, Tannadice, Kirriemuir, Brechin and Edzell are heading to the International Scout Centre in Switzerland for a week in July.

The trip will give the young people a chance to meet Scouts from around the world and take part in new and exciting experiences.

This is the first time the district has organised a trip like this in nine years.

David Whitton, assistant district commissioner (Scouts) North Angus said: “During our time in Switzerland the Scouts will take part in a variety of activities including hill walking, rafting, learning about Swiss culture and mixing with Scouts from around the world at the centre.

“A trip such as this is not cheap so we are carrying out a variety of fund-raising events to keep the cost down as low as possible so more Scouts have the opportunity to take part.

“If we were successful in being awarded the £250 we would put the money towards those Scouts whose families cannot financially support them to go on a trip like this. Scouting is for all and we feel money should not stop any young person missing out on a great experience like this.”

Applications should be sent to Angus County Press Limited, 117 to 119 Castle Street, Forfar.
