Forfar in Flower held its first annual general meeting last Wednesday in the Tesco meeting room.
In her convener’s report, Lynne Devine said: “We have had an amazing first year and have made quite a difference to the look of the town, which was our aim.
“It’s been so good that, not only have people really appreciated our work, but many businesses and individuals have donated money to help us improve on last year.”
There was brief discussion about the projects carried out in the year – planters, hanging baskets and downpipe planters in the middle of the town, and the changes made to the leisure centre entrance, Gary’s Chip Shop at Dundee Road (seats donated by Gary), daffodils on Queenswell Drive, Lowson Avenue roundabout and wildflowers at the Zoar roundabout and the County Buildings.
Lynne said so many people gave willingly of their time, but special thanks were given to Eleanor Gledhill and also the Community Payback teams that did a lot of the heavy work.
The ordinary meeting which followed was taken up with plans for the new planting including the new railing planters at the Post Office and Springfield and a couple of extra projects at Newmonthill and the West Port – watch these spaces in the next few weeks!
Anyone who is interested in helping in any way or who has ideas for future projects would be very much welcomed and should contact Eleanor Gledhill on 469090 or firstname.lastname@example.org
