Police Scotland can confirm that a cyclist who suffered fatal injuries as a result of a road traffic collision on the A926 at Padanaram to Maryton Road yesterday has now been identified.

He has been named as 48-year old Grant Gourlay of Ballumbie Road, Dundee.

Mr Gourlay’s family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed. They do not wish to make any further comments and have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

Enquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are on-going and Tayside Division would appeal for anyone who may have information that could assist officers with their enquiries to contact Tayside Division on 101.

As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Mr Gourlay died after he was in collision with a van at around 10.10 a.m., near the houses at Checkiefield and the Ballinshoe junction.

An ambulance was called but Mr Gourlay died at the scene.

The road was closed until yesterday afternoon and road accident investigators were in attendance.
