The Forfar Chabanais Twinning Association held its annual general meeting recently when office bearers were appointed.

They are: chairperson, Alice McLeod; vice-chairperson, Graeme Dunsire; secretary, Kathleen Nisbet; treasurer, Robert Raeburn; press and publicity, Sheila Bradley; committee - June Coull, Graham Irving, Will Brodie, Neil Mackay, Agnes Mackay, Derek Nisbet and Marion Dunsire.

The association is on the lookout for new members. If you are interested in meeting French people and enjoying exchange visits to Chabanais in the Charente, contact Alice Mcleod on 840520, Kathleen Nisbet on 468229 or any committee member.

As the association is hosting its French guests this summer, it is holding two fund-raising events - a wine tasting in the Forfar Guide Hall on Friday, February 21 (tickets from Derek Nisbet on 468229) and a coffee morning on Saturday, May 3 in the Guide Hall from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

With 2014 being such a special year for Scotland, members intend showing their French guests some different parts of Scotland. They hope to include a visit to the new Bannockburn Centre, because this year will be the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn. The picture shows the group at the Cairn O’Mount on their way to Crathes Castle during the last exchange, which was much appreciated by the visitors.
