Kirriemuir Young Achievers
THE KIRRIEMUIR Young Achievers’ Ceremony is set to take place this Thursday (January 31) in the Old Parish Church in Kirriemuir at 7 p.m.
The Webster’s Parent Council developed the Kirriemuir Young Achievers’ initiative as they believes that there are many young people who do great things in our community and that they should be recognised by all who live in Kirriemuir and the surrounding area.
The Parent Council does not want the Young Achiever Award to be limited to in-school activities but wish for it to embrace outstanding contributions by individuals in local organisations and clubs as well as the often unsung good work which happens outwith any formal structure.
It is hoped that Young Achievers will become an annual event and that it will receive much publicity and will be celebrated by everyone who lives in the Kirriemuir corner of Angus.
Thursday evening (tonight) is set to be a most enjoyable occasion, with music, refreshments and Young Achiever badges being presented by local councillor, Major Ronnie Proctor assisted by members of the Parent Council.
The badges available are gold, silver or bronze, depending on the level of achievement and they represent the three categories; sports, arts and charities.
