Good turnout for stockjudging event

The competitors who took part in the East Region Stockjudging competition at Newhouse of Glamis.

The East Region Stockjudging competition was held on Sunday, May 25 at Newhouse of Glamis, Forfar by kind permission of the Adam family.

This was an open competition in which 91 participants took part in judging the six classes of high quality stock.

The competitors judged three beef (Limousin & Charolais) and three sheep classes (Blackface, Cheviot and Blue Faced Leicester) before they were treated to refreshments kindly provided 
by the host.

The East Region of Young Farmers has extended its thank the Adam family for hosting the event; David Ritchie Ltd for sponsorship; Tom Cockburn, the judge for the competition, and everyone who took part.

The results were:-

Open: 1 Colin Duncan – 279 points, 2 David Cooper – 274 points, 3 Claire McGowan – 272 points.

Seniors (YF Section): 1 Matthew Steel – 289 points, 2 Ewan Penny – 283 points, 3 James Lawrie – 273 points.

Juniors (YF Section): 1 Andrew Adam – 291 points, 2 Rory Stoddart – 270 points, 3 Mark Ogg – 262 points.

Under 14: 1 Cameron Jack – 255 points, 2 Douglas Jack – 234 points, 3 Duncan Jack – 199 points.

Overall winner: Andrew Adam.
