Glorious walk on Bennachie

A TOTAL of 22 members of the Forfar and District Hillwalking Club set out on Sunday for a walk on Bennachie in Aberdeenshire.

A bus took the group to the Back o’ Bennachie and the walkers followed a route from north to south over Oxen Crag, Craigshannoch and Mither Tap. The day stayed dry but chilly with lots of soft snow on the ground. It was then a return bus trip to Sauchieburn Hotel for the annual high tea which was enjoyed by the walkers plus 10 other members. The food was delicious, as usual, and the scones and cakes disappeared like snow off a dyke! A grand day out was had with lots of chat. This is consistently the best-attended meet of the year. The next open meeting is on Monday, February 4, in the Guide Hall in the Myre car park at 7.30 p.m. A short meeting will be followed by the annual photograph competition and all are welcome to attend.
