FUND-RAISING TEENAGERS COMPLETE GRUELLING TREK
A GROUP of local teenagers have completed a gruelling ten day walk across Scotland to raise money for Help for Heroes and MS Scotland.
Seventeen-year-olds Eck Thomson, Jordon Dale and Daniel Channon, along with Uist Corrigan (18), embarked on their 200-mile journey on June 8 from Ardnamurchan Point on the west coast to Montrose.
The point, near Glen Coe, is commonly described as the most westerly point of British mainland, and the group spent all but two nights under canvas before rising to tackle walking days of around 20 miles over some extremely demanding terrain.
The teenagers' route took them past Kinlochleven, across Rannoch Moor and through Perthshire into the Angus glens before reaching their final destination of Montrose.
Eck, who is from Glen Prosen, said: "It was really good. It was pretty exhausting at some points and we each had good days and bad days.
"We were working together as a team and relied on each other when one of us were having a bad day.
"We have raised around 800 at the moment for Help For Heroes, and Uist has reached about 500 for MS."
