FORFAR FAMILY RAISE MONEY IN TRAGIC COT DEATH MEMORY

FOLLOWING the tragic cot death of an eight-month-old Forfar baby late last year, his family decided to raise money for the Scottish Cot Death Trust and held a sponsored walk over the Tay Bridge in their pyjamas last Thursday.

Frances Lyon, Scott Lyon, Danny Lyon and Amy Monk braved the snow for their walk across the bridge which marked baby Rogan JD Lyon's first birthday.

Amy created a Just Giving fund-raising website in his memory that has now accumulated donations exceeding their 500 target.

These funds will help boost the Scottish Cot Death Trust which provides support for families after the unexpected death of a young child. It gives information on how to try reducing the risks, and provides bereaved families with breathing monitors for any future children.

Figures show that one child in every 1,500 births dies due to cot death, equivalent to 40 per year in Scotland.

The family plan to do some more fundraising for the Scottish Cot Death Trust in the future and more information is available on the Just Giving website (www.justgiving.com/rogan-jd-lyon).
