Forfar Academy through
to Rock Challenge final

Rock Challenge UK is a series of performing arts events which promote healthy life style choices for young adults.

Forfar Academy pupils participated in the first heat of the Rock Challenge competition last Tuesday and achieved a very close second place against other competing schools in Angus.

The Forfar Academy crew have worked tirelessly for several months. The majority of the pupils involved in the group were from S1 and S6, and have been involved in producing choreography, set, costumes and hair and make-up as well as performing live on stage at Webster’s Theatre.

A spokesperson said: “The group pulled off the performance of their lives and managed to gain seven awards from the night.

“They also managed to secure a place at the Scottish finals in June by being the top overall second place in all the heats throughout Scotland.”

The awards the Forfar Academy team achieved were: Best lighting; Best Set Design; Best Costume Design; Best Make-Up; Best Video performance; Award for community involvement and Healthy lifestyle Award.

The spokesperson continued: “Overall the whole experience was a huge success for the staff and pupils involved.

“The staff who were involved would like to thank everyone who helped out at some point with the performance, your help was greatly appreciated.

“A huge thank you also goes out to everyone who helped out with the fund-raising events that were run; your support really helped in order to meet the cost of the event.”
