Fantastic Fair Trade start

Angus MP Mike Weir has warmly welcomed the news that Scotland has become a Fair Trade nation.

Mr Weir, a long time supporter of Fair Trade, helped launch this year’s Fair Trade fortnight together with South Angus MSP Graeme Dey.

He said: “The news that Scotland has become a Fair Trade nation is a fantastic start to this year’s Fair Trade Fortnight. Campaigning groups throughout Angus have done so much to achieve this. Brechin, Forfar and Montrose have all achieved the status of Fair Trade towns.

“I would urge everyone to try at least one fair trade product which range from wine, through biscuits and chocolates to coffee and tea, and even roses for Valentines Day this year. Fair Trade ensures producers get a fair price for their produce and ensures they can provide for their families and build stronger and more resilient communities.”
