Cortachy overall winners at show

The Angus Federation SWRI held its annual competitive exhibition of work and flowering bulbs in the Reid Hall, Forfar on Friday and Saturday.

The housewives and handcrafts sections had everything on display, from chutneys and cheese and chive scones to sewn shorts and scrapbooking.

Once all the points had been counted, the Cortachy Institute emerged winners of the Babington Challenge Cup for most points overall, with Tealing runners-up.

The other trophy winners were as follows:-

Pate Challenge Cup – most points larger institutes - Cortachy; runner-up Tealing.

Murray Cup - most points smaller institutes - Logie Pert; Aldbar.

Housewives Cup - Cortachy; Aldbar.

Handicrafts Cup - Tealing; Tannadice & Oathlaw.

Lawrie Cup- most points embroidery - Tealing.

Drumgeith Cup- large Institute co-op section - Kingsmuir.

Guilds Cup- small institute - co-op section - Inverkeilor.

H & H Guilds Cup - institute with most points S.M. Classes - Cortachy/Kingsmuir.

Bulbs Cup – large institute - Cortachy.

Cuthbert Shield – bulbs, small institute - Memus & Fern.

Fairlie Salver – individual most points S M Classes - Margaret McIldowie/Elsie Nicoll.

Mary Wyllie Trophy – overall in Art - Marion MacDonald, Cortachy.

Caroline Lang Perpetual Salver - best bowl of bulbs - Sheina Smith, Cortachy.

Chairman’s Choice - Cathie Munro, Northmuir - beadwork.

Mary Ross Cuthbert Bowl- most outstanding item in a co-op exhibit - Allison Stewart, Tealing.

Individual Housewives Trophy - Elsie Nicoll, Memus & Fern.

Individual Handicrafts Trophy - Jean Donaldson, Tealing.
