THE FORFAR branch of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland received a post-Christmas boost on Thursday when 12-year-old Caitlyn Kydd popped in with a giant cheque.

Caitlyn, a first year pupil at Forfar Academy, handed over a cheque for £580 to assistant manager Carol Diplexcito after successfully hosting three ‘Come Dine with Me’ evenings in her home.

Caitlyn prepared and cooked the meals for family and friends and also did some home baking which her mum Alison and dad Gavin took to their respective work at Angus Council’s education department and G.S.K.

Caitlyn had been thinking about fund-raising for Chest Heart and Stroke after her big sister Rachael (15) raised around £800 two years ago with a sponsored hike and bike in memory of the girls’ grandad, Ian Tasker, who died in 2008 of heart failure.

Caitlyn said: “I have been thinking about doing something for a while and I am pleased at how much money I have raised.

“I did three sittings and cooked for about 25 people.”

Accepting the cheque Carol said: “This is a fantastic amount of money for such a young person. We really appreciate this donation which will help with the work that is done within the Angus area. It is a brilliant amount of money - well done Caitlyn.”
