CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF CAMPING AT LADENFORD

THE 40th anniversary of the official opening of the Girlguiding Angus camp and training & activity centre at Ladenford, by Forfar, was celebrated on Saturday.

Over 100 invited guests who were involved in the original fund-raising and planning of the campsite and centre, or who been involved with the site over the last 40 years, took part in the celebrations.

As well being an opportunity for those attending to renew old friendships, the event saw Guides and Brownies from around the county demonstrating activities from through the years.

There was an opportunity for former members and supporters to take part in activities which ranged from putting up a tent to backwoods cookery!

There was also a superb collection of displays from the archives on show - depicting activities which have taken place at the site as well as of more recent events involving the girls of today.

A spokesperson from Girlguiding Angus said: "Over the last 40 years the campsite and centre has given the opportunity for thousands of girls from across Angus and beyond to take part in outdoor activities, have fun learning new skills and making lifelong friendships.

"We are confident that the centre will continue to go from strength to strength and look forward to further celebrations in the years to come."

The culmination of the afternoon was the cutting of a special birthday cake and the camp fire.
