Call for schools to go that extra mile for Sport Relief

Youngsters are being encouraged to get behind this years Sport Relief campaign.

The organisers of this year’s Sport Relief campaign are calling on all local schools and nurseries to get active for this year’s fund-raiser.

For the last Sport Relief campaign, in 2012, schools and nurseries from Scotland raised more than £290,000 and the hope is that youngsters will again help to raise some serious cash.

There are many ways schools can get involved in Sport Relief 2014, which runs from Friday, March 21 to Sunday, March 23. They can organise their own Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Friday, March 21, but there are lots of other ways they can join in the fun and games.

The charity’s free school fund-raising resource pack contains exclusive materials to help groups organise their event. The best bit is that all the cash raised will help people living incredibly tough lives in Scotland, across the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

Aleks Leimanis, Comic Relief’s schools and youth manager, said: “Schools and nurseries are some of the best fund-raisers for Sport Relief and we are hugely grateful for their continued dedication and hard work. Schools and nurseries up and down the country have already signed up to take part in Sport Relief 2014, so come on Scotland join in the fun and games and be a part of something truly fantastic!”
