THE FORFAR Instrumental Band held its annual general meeting on Tuesday (January 28).
The meeting heard that the band had played at a wide spectrum of venues over the year. Aberlemno, Glamis, Kirriemuir and Forfar were all served together with a new venue for the band, Alyth.
The band played at church services, the switch-on of Christmas lights, primary school open days, day-care centre fetes and even a couple of concerts.
Bandmaster Gordon Evans noted that the band consists of several talented young players, a few players with considerable experience with a body of sound and reliable players in between. The combination was working well, enabling the band to play a broad selection of music to a high standard. Over the next few months a lot of new material would be added to the band’s repertoire.
Anyone interested can get in touch with the secretary on 01307 468876 or just go along to the Cricket Club on a Tuesday evening with an instrument.
The meeting concluded with the election of officials and a committee.
