Body confirmed as Kirrie woman
AT THE time of going to press on Tuesday (yesterday), it was confirmed the body found on Johnshaven beach on Thursday was that of Kirriemuir woman (Jane) Janie Thomson.
A brief statement issued by Grampian Police said: “Police can today confirm the identity of the woman found dead on the shore at Johnshaven on Thursday, February 28, as (Jane) Janie Thomson (55), from Kirriemuir. There were no suspicious circumstances. Janie’s family have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
The 55-year-old had been reported missing from her home address in Kirriemuir at around midday last Wednesday, (February 27).
The following day an investigation was ongoing following the discovery of the body on the beach at Johnshaven at around 9.30 a.m. Police believed she had been driving a blue Land Rover Discovery which was discovered parked at the harbour in Johnshaven.
Coastguard personnel from Stonehaven, Montrose, Arbroath and Carnoustie had been involved in searching the coastline, along with two lifeboats from Montrose.
