THINKING DAY: On Sunday around one hundred Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and their Leaders of Forfar met at the Lowson Memorial Church for their annual Thinking Day celebration. The themes of the day were Together we can save childrens lives and Every Mothers health and life is precious. There were various readings carried out by girls on Sunday and all girls renewed their promise together.

LAST Sunday, around one hundred Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and their Leaders from Forfar met at the Lowson Memorial Church for their annual Thinking Day celebration.

The themes of the day were “Together we can save children’s lives” and “Every Mother’s health and life is precious.”

There were various readings carried out by the girls on Sunday and all girls renewed their promise together.

This was part of the wider celebration taking place across all corners of the globe to mark World Thinking Day which is recognised each year by the Girl Guiding movement on February 22.

In 1926, delegates from around the globe met in the USA and agreed that the day would be known from then onward as a special day for the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world as the day marks the birthday of the Scouting and Guiding founders Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave Baden-Powell.

Girl Guides around the world think of each other and express their thanks and appreciation.

Thinking Day is a great time for the Girl Guiding organisation to reflect on the events of the past year as it has been a busy time for the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.

The girls participated in a special march at Glamis Castle in the summer to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee along with Scouts and other organisations.

Furthermore, at weekly meetings there have been various visitors coming in to talk to the girls, as well as Brownies, Rainbows and Guides going out into the local community for trips to the pantomime.

It was great to see a fantastic turn-out, once again, of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and parents on Sunday at the Church and all leaders and girls are excited about what 2013 has to hold.
