On Sunday, August 17 Mountains Animal Sanctuary on the outskirts of Forfar will hold its annual “Extravaganza” which promises to be a fantastic day for all the family.
Topping the bill in the main ring –and delighting the crowd with two performances during the day is the equestrian stunt team ‘Riders of the Storm’ with tricks set to thrill and amaze.
From daredevil stunts to elegant gymnastics, these skilled riders are a must-see.
Guests will also have the opportunity to find out all about the vital work of Mountains in rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing Scotland’s horses, ponies and donkeys, and hear about the exciting forthcoming merger with the UK’s largest horse sanctuary, Redwings.
Mountains’’ farriers Dave and Josh Wilson will also be on hand to provide a full farrier demonstration.
The Mountains Extravaganza isn’t just for horse lovers; there is something for every animal enthusiast. Does your pooch harbour a hidden talent for dog agility? Angus Dog Activity Club will be appearing at the event giving attendees the chance to try out agility and terrier racing with their own four-legged friend, as well as entering them in a fun dog show!
Meanwhile, for those who are inspired by the feathery rather than the furry, Raptor World will provide a fascinating Mounted Falconry demonstration. Here history, theatre and impressive handling combine for a truly thrilling experience.
The Mountains Extravaganza will also feature a bouncy castle, face painting and a magic show from Harry Mudini, as well as various craft, catering and trade stalls including handmade jewellery, hair accessories and cards from Mariell’s Handmade Goodies; a multitude of exotic and unusual tea flavours from Tea and Design; and the adorable Robbie’s Fairies and Fairy Making Party.
The Extravaganza will take place between 11.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Mountains Animal Sanctuary, Glenogil.
Tickets can be purchased from the visitor centre; adult tickets £5, children £2.50 and family tickets £12 for two adults and two children. All tickets purchased from the visitor centre prior to the event will be entered into a prize draw to win a year’s adoption.
