More than 100 cubs from across Angus took to the hills around Newtyle recently as part of Jamobree on the Trail.
The day is an annual event with scouts participating worldwide, hiking together with the aim of working towards a better future through scouting.
Cub packs from Forfar, Kirriemuir, Newtyle, Monifieth, Newbigging, Edzell and Brechin hiked along the old railway line footpaths around Newtyle before climbing to the former observatory at the summit of Kinpurney Hill.
On reaching the top, the boys were treated to a small display by a Spitfire on its way to Forfar for Legion Scotland’s VE Day commemoration, which circled the hill twice, barrel rolled and then waved its wings as it headed off towards the town.
All the boys received a special badge for taking part.
