Well-known Forfar man Charlie Brown has been honoured by Angus and Perthshire Area of the Royal British Legion Scotland with the award of an Area Certificate.
The award marks long service to the Legion, and carries with it a distinct tone of service above and beyond the norm, and indeed this is the case.
Since joining the Legion in 1993, after 22 years in REME, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, rising to the rank of Warrant Officer, Charlie has always held Legion office.
He has served as treasurer, secretary and chairman of Forfar Branch, the Legion’s oldest Branch in Scotland, and thus the world, as the Scottish Legion pre-dates the UK organisation.
Currently Charlie is also the Legion’s Area Chairman, as well as sitting on its National Board of Trustees.
When not in the Legion he was a ‘weel-kent’ face throughout Angus as the Council Officer, first with Tayside Region and then with Angus after regions were dismantled.
