Jubilee day off for Angus Council

ANGUS Council could be set to announce a one-off bank holiday on Tuesday, June 5 2012 to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

In a report, chief executive Richard Stiff asked the strategic policy committee to agree to recognise June 5 as a holiday, regard the day as an additional day of annual leave for employees and approve normal public holiday opening arrangements applying in council facilities.

Mr Stiff said: “In response to the UK and Scottish Government’s announcements the council is required to decide whether ot not to recognise the day as a holiday. In this regard it is proposed that the day be recognised as a holiday.”
