The RISING Youngstars Junior Musical Theatre Group has organised a novel event which will help boost their fund-raising efforts for their next production.
Members are holding a coffee afternoon at the Northmuir Hall, Kirriemuir, which takes place on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m.
They are hoping supporters will look out their mixing bowls, scales and favourite recipes for a ‘Bake Off’ where their efforts will be tasted and judged on the afternoon.
Tickets are £1.50 admittance and there is a great selection of entertainment including the ‘Bake Off’, raffle, face painting, craft table and bric-a-brac table.
This is to raise funds for the group’s forthcoming performance of Annie which will be held at Kirriemuir Town Hall from Wednesday, June 12, to Saturday, June 15.
The show is performed by local youngsters from Kirriemuir, Forfar and surrounding areas and they have been putting in a lot of work rehearsing their words, songs and dancing.
If you would like to submit an item for the Bake Off please contact Yvonne Fraser on 01575 574942.
Participants would hand in their item of baking with a list of ingredients at the hall on Saturday and be given a number.
All items will be displayed and for a small charge people can taste and vote for their favourite. At the end of the afternoon the baker with the most votes will win a family ticket for four to see Annie.
This is a great opportunity to have a coffee, cake and chat and to meet the group and helpers.
Orders for tickets for Annie can also be taken on the day.
The group would also like to thank Angus Council Event Funding for their kind contribution to the cost of the hire of the Town Hall.
Yvonne said: “The Rising Youngstars group really appreciate this and it is a huge help for the group.”
If you would like to hand in any baking, or items for the Bake Off or any bric-a-brac books etc. then please contact Yvonne on 01575 574942 or Colette on 01307 463694. All contributions are gladly accepted and we look forward to seeing you all there.
