Members of Forfar Probus were treated on Tuesday to a tour of the fabulous ‘Archipielago Del Ecuador’ or Galapagos Islands, courtesy of retired nurse Linda Robbie.

Forfarian Linda has travelled widely in retirement after giving 37 years’ service with the NHS.

She showed colourful pictures of her 2012 tour, illustrating the diversity of animal and bird life in the 19 volcanic islands making up this relatively new geological area, and demonstrated why Charles Darwin found it such a fascinating region.

There were frigate birds, blue-footed boobys, stilt birds, flamingos, penguins and waved albatross as well as giant tortoise, fur seal and sealion and sea and marine iguanas, jellyfish, shark and whales all beautifully photographed and described by Linda in her informed, light-hearted style.
